Switzerland coach relives the evening she became the youngest player to score a Women’s World Cup hat-trick.

Switzerland coach and former Germany international striker Inka Grings is commentating on her fine volley against Mexico at the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA 1999™.

The goal set up a thumping 6-0 victory for the Germans, with the lethal Grings netting a treble. The then 20-year-old set a record in that game which stands to this day – she is the youngest player to score a hat-trick at the Women’s World Cup

In the latest episode of FIFA+’s My Women’s World Cup Memories series, she relives that evening at Portland’s Civic Stadium.

“I rarely enjoy watching myself,” says a beaming Grings. “But these are great memories that allow you to be proud once in a while.”

Grings is now out to make more history with Switzerland at Australia & New Zealand 2023 as she aims to lead the nation beyond the round of 16 for the first time.
