Boss suspected of corruption: NGO group received millions from EU

The EU has just given the right non-governmental organization millions. It has now become known that the NGO involved in the EU bribery scandal involving Eva Kaili received generous financial injections from the EU Commission for years.

The EU Commission has paid millions to the non-governmental organization (NGO) “No Peace without Justice”, which is involved in the bribery scandal in the European Parliament. The EU Commission confirmed to the German “WirtschaftsWoche” that the NGO will receive 2.7 million euros for two current projects in Libya. Because of the scandal, 1.37 million euros were withheld. This amount has not yet been paid out.

Since 2006, Figa Talamanca NGO has regularly received millions in EU funds

Since 2006, the EU Commission had also supported seven other NGO projects with a total of a good five million euros in public funds. The head of the NGO, the Italian Niccolo Figa-Talamanca, has been in custody since December, as have the former Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, her partner Giorgi Francesco and the former Italian socialist MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri. They are accused of bribery and money laundering.
